I tought they discarded the gripods.

The grippod has built-in controls for some kind of TROOPNET terminal interface, so without knowing more of that it's hard to tell.
Plus, ever since its debut in 2019 parade, we actually hardly saw that thingy whether in newsreel or pictures shared on internet. Instead, more often either we saw it go barebone or kit out close to the degree as those of Western bloc.
