@SampanViking Sir I'm no Taiwanese but my brother in law is, A 2nd generation (his grandparents both from his mother and father side came from China). From our conversation he loves Taiwan and had served in the military but he is proud of his Chinese heritage. Sir I'm against any invasion nor aggression, my theme is always "WHY DESTROY SOMETHING THAT YOU OWNED". What he told me IF China DO invade he will fight, if there is a way for a peaceful resolution he will join. That discussion made me think that this petty family quarrel will be settled peacefully. China need to be patient, forcing the issue will only exaggerated the problem and I think the CCP understand the situation, the DPP is an irritant even my brother in law knows that , what he and I agree is Taiwan is being use as a pawn and this coming election in 2024 will be interesting. KMT will field a viable candidate and the CIA and the US will intervene and there will be cheating in the election and if that happen there will be a civil disturbance that will led to people power. The main grievances is about the deteriorating quality of life as the economy stagnate due to covid and the geopolitical tension. The DPP is using the China threat to cover up its mishandling and corruption is rife , I think the pendulum is swinging back and China should be ready to offer something that the Taiwanese find acceptable.
And here is what troubling me, If the DPP did cheat in the election with the help of the US and there is a disturbance, will that justify a Chinese invasion? By that time 2025 China is much stronger and may tempt to use it? And economically Taiwan had served its purpose as the FAB 21 will become operational.
