Do we have an exact idea of what could be the defence layout of those islands ? I imagine a combination of short, medium and long range defensive weapons, with some offensive assets for counter attack.
Do we have sources on this subject ?
I can't even identify the type of turret and/or weapons (if these are turrets) that are depicted on the above pictures.
Thanks for your lights.

Oups,
I could have read AMTI reports before writting:

But in addition to these fixed point defense weapons we can suppose that mobile assets are kept undercover for survivability against 1st strike.

This is being discussed on multiple threads, from another thread:
What is identifiable in those pictures are rudimentary point defenses: twin-barreled AAA and what looks like naval gun turrets slapped on top of buildings. I don't see any CIWS though there are unidentifiable things that may or may not be military equipment. The PRC can always put some mobile units there just like the ROC, Vietnam, Japan, S Korea, the US, UK, and a whole host of other countries do on islands they control.

I remember there being a lot more cells. Or are those all actually buried underground?

I think those are the more complex looking structures which CSIS alleges to be SAM/AShM VLS.

Very aggressive of China to prepare to defend its islands.;)
No doubt China will pursue its national interests in the SCS and elsewhere, but so would other countries. Something will be eventually worked out, but that day will not happen unless and until US and China works out a power-sharing arrangement that suits both Capitals. When (not if, but when) it happens, the rest will fall in line.

This should have gone into the breaking news thread but that was derailed.
I have two questions:
What type of ship is ASR-510 and to which service does it belong?
How far from some Chinese island was the US water drone caught by ASR-510?
