Maybe bodyguards? Military escorts? Maybe a US LCS in the area to make sure reporters don't get harassed.
Why not send in a CVBG and provide them with air support?

New York Times reporter and his motley crew of Phillipino fishermen play cat and mouse with the Chinese coast guard and almost get their boat submerged. The US should try to get some protection for these reporters.
I suppose China will appeal to the next higher court, a regional court in The Hague, which will then squash the verdict just as it did when Russia successfully appealed the PCA verdict ordering it to pay the shareholders of the defunct Yukos oil company $50b. Or perhaps it will not if the new president of the Philippines will discuss the matter with China without prejudice.
That was the argument of Russia when it went to the Dutch court. But indeed China would rather reach agreement with the Philippines without US interference.China will not appeal because it does not participate in the proceedings. Appealing will only lend legitimacy to the ruling, when China's argument all along was that the PCA has no jurisdiction over this matter.
Whoever temporarily rules China can only do it with a Mandate of Heaven that calls for preservation of the Chinese civilization, and protection of its sovereignty. Emperor Xi isn't stupid, so he knows if the Red Dynasty wishes to remain in power, he better tend to Chinese sovereignty. That was the argument of Russia when it went to the Dutch court.
