I developed a Flickr album called, "Life aboard the Chinese carrier, Liaoning." In it, I use about 50 pictures from recent exercises and flight operations to show the progress the Chinese are making with carrier operations.

It is impressive stuff and something many have wondered about in terms of what progress they are making.

I'd say they are making excellent progress, particularly considering that their first carrier ever was only commissioned three years ago. Here's a link to the album. Take a look at the whole thing. The [pictures are ordered chronologically with respect to operations.

Feel fre to pass this around.

A video of the new Type 072 LST, 916, has surfaced and it is great.

Here it is:

It has allowed for some still pictures of the newer Type 072s, along with some from my:

...that give us a rare look at the Type 072s as we have not seen them before here on this forum.

There are now a total of 30 of these vessels in the PLAN inventory, with 2 or 3 more building.

This post and the next three will give us a good look at them:

I got a question so far all the pic show the 30mm have a human operator, does that mean it can be remotely controlled or automated?
I am moving your question to the PLAN Ask Anything Thread.

My understanding is that the PLAN does in fact have a version of this 25mm mount that can be either manual or remote operated. for example I believe the ones on the Type 056 are that way.

I do not know if the mounts on the Type 072 LSTs are also remote operation capable, but given the sensors I see on the mount, I would say that they are.
