Right you are, the last YUTING II class had dropped out. Here it is:

The last of ten YUTING I class, Type 072 III, was 940, built 2002. The class was superseded by YUTING II class, Type 072A, the nine units of which were built 2003-04. No more have been built since then.

For good measure the names of the ten YUNSHU and the single YUDENG class LSM are added – not least in the hope that the editor of SinoDefence.com will take note of the name he is missing on 943:

They seems to be refitting this old frigate. (looks like Luda class).

Luda class is a destroyer.I can't imagine these being used in any serious role except maybe to guard outlying islands such as Diaoyu or maybe even just for a training role.Just my guess.

The LUDA class destroyer is just in dock for routine overhaul, but odd that they would be doing that at Zhonghua. If they were refitting the ship, armament and sensors would be removed.

I am sure that guard duties for contested islands is not what the PLAN has in mind for its 13 LUDA class (half the destroyer fleet). Do not forget that it has serious artillery!

I'm sure if PLAN needed them they could get 5 or so more years out of them but they are over 20years old and weren't exactly highly thought of when new and the last major upgrade was about 10 years ago.I'm sure they could get put out to pasture with each new 52C that comes online.

Of course. If they build only four 052C+ now, four 051 will be phased out. If they build another four 2014-16as reported, they will phase out eight 051 (or all the nine that were not modernised).

Maybe they will be useful for fire cover support. They've experimented with firing rocket artillery from them at shore targets but then find the spread of fire is too wide to be effective against serious fortifications.
