Re: PLAN Carrier Construction

Exactly.. There's one in Lakehurst right next to the catapults.
The PRC site looks like a good part of the "track" is actually covered. And in the clear, right after the last covered portion there to the left, it looks like what could be a "sled" sitting there on the track.

Each of the 3 linear features at Lakehurst is much longer than a carrier catapult, using the cars in the photo for scale. The actual catapult may make up only part of the linear feature.

This and the fact there are no taxi ways around it means it can't launch a real plane, so if it is a catapult test facility, it is only suitable for early stage developmental testing. Late stage land based testing and validation on real planes must happen somewhere else.

News video of the visit, shows the mock-up training deck and inside the bridge of the Liaoning.

Good observation Chuck. If some one could post a larger aerial photo of the area that would be helpful.

On the Lakehurst-Photo we see five arrangements without aircraft-capability and only one on the runway. I think, you need these facilities normaly for save-life-tests and not for catapulting aircraft into the sky.

Translation? Or any indication of what that link is about?

This is the picture I finally got to come up for me:

So I suppose it is talking about the fabricated section we saw a while back that looked like a part of the new carrier.

If I understand the pictures correct, this pice of a carrier is part of a theme park about modern carrier building.

Nothing new that I can see. The caption just says what everybody thought is a section of the new carrier is actually just a piece of a new museum for the shipyard. not sure that's the whole truth.
