Now THAT is something else. Very historic.
Those aircraft are going to be game changers as they are further developed and as they are used for all sorts of missions on their own (Recon, surveillance, BDA, Maritime Patrol, Strike. Particularly when it gets to the point where say and F/A-18F is flying along, controlling 4 or so of them at a time from its own aircraft. Talk about force multipliers.
Been waiting for this.

Great accomplishment by the US Navy.. just a scant two years since the first flight of this aircraft.
I found this link at sina..it has photos of the X-47B aboard ship that I've not seen. Curious. There are 43 pix in all. Enjoy!

We must remember that the X-47B is a prototype demonstration aircraft. It is not the final product. There have only been two built. No more have been funded as of yet. I do believe the USN intends to have this aircraft or one like it as part of their carrier air wing in the future.

These were my favorites from the US Navy posting:
A real game changer setting up here. With its ability for long loiter, long range, refueling, and strike capabnility as well as a strong sensor suite...they can be placed at critical points almost indefinitely to gguard the fleet. They can partol almost indefinitely. Think if they add an ASW variant how valuable that would be.
They can accompny strike groups and multiply their impact tremendously.
They can perform strike of opportunity of their own...or do penetration strikes with their stealth and the fact that they are unmanned.
Great stuff all around. Looking very forward to seeing the traps very soon.
