Personally, I find the "high altitude, long range, anti stealth-aircraft unmanned aerial vehicle" to be the most interesting.

Well, it doesn't mention SAC specifically, but that "strategic bomber" does seem interesting.

It's not a strategic bomber.

People are saying it's the 5th-gen fighter-bomber under development at SAC (maiden flight around mid-2011). But again, the design might be different.

I think yellow is production. Nonetheless, why are their multiple types of each aircraft. For example, why are there several J-11BSs. I can't read chinese

Edit: Looking at it closer, I can't find any pattern to the colors.

They signify different stages of development. Take the J-11BS for example, the first just says J-11BS, which I presume to mean the start of the program. The second says first flight, and the third says something like final configuration, which means it's set for serial production.

It's not a strategic bomber.

I'm just reading what it says in the chart. It says, word for word, "strategic bomber".

Personally, I find the "high altitude, long range, anti stealth-aircraft unmanned aerial vehicle" to be the most interesting.

I find that pretty interesting as well. According to the chart it's also already had its first flight, and it's set to be certified right around now.

One of the J-11BS was the first flight prototype and the other is the final production variant.

Firstly i apologise for citing the Strategypage here as i know how it irritates some people. However this article is about a guy whose name i haven't come across being discussed on this forum (Yang Wei). The author seems to put him on a really high pedestal so can anyone authenticate his claims. It's not without obvious bias with regards references to stolen technology but you will expect that.If there are indeed talk of him here on SDF or anywhere else, i would appreciate a pointer to it ,thanks.

July 5, 2011: After years of trying to keep it a secret, China has confirmed that one of their aircraft engineers, Yang Wei, is actually one of those extraordinary designers who produces one successful design after another. Born in 1963, he graduated from college at age 19 and finished graduate school three years later. He soon went to work at the Chengdu Aircraft Design Institute, and a decade later was appointed director. So far, he has designed a working fly-by-wire system, as well as the JF-17, J-10B and J-20. He did not design the original J-10, but did design the most successful version, the J-10B, and provided important upgrades for other J-10 models. The new J-20 (a stealth design that is still in development) is less of a surprise now that it's known the Chinese have a genuine ace designer working on it.

P.S. Found some info on him now as well as his wiki page >

The color code is interesting.

Note, the yellow J-10A is after gray J-10B, and then there is a line-art J-10B "first flight".

My guess:
Green means production.
Yellow means first flight.
Gray means "project started".
Line-art means future.

i think so, maybe the camo color means military operational ?
