Modular grenades are a different class of grenade. They are a concussion grenade that is designed to produce minimal fragmentation effects. Hence why stacking. Basically these are meant to create overpressure effects for blowing down doors, destroying a bomb or IED, collapsing a structure. That kinda fun stuff.

Type 86P was a fragmentation grenade that means that the explosive core is surrounded by a scored casing to produce maximum fragmentation effects. Type (also seen it listed as M) 86P was classed as a defensive grenade.
Frankly I doubt it’s been replaced. Hand grenade technology doesn’t update that often. It’s fairly cheap reliable technology that seemed to compare to the latest of west and east which again pretty stagnant. A WW2 grenade is frankly just as effective as the modern one only differences are the package.

Don't it exist jumping grenade that explodes in waist height or did I mix it up with mines and UGL?
