The Chinese government has begun an aggressive propaganda campaign aimed at persuading the public that China is the victim of separatist terrorist activity instigated by the Dalai Lama.

In response to events surrounding unrest in Tibet, China has moved thousands of troops into provinces bordering the region. Chinese police officers in riot gear marched through the center of Zhongdian, in a Tibetan area of Yunnan Province in southern China.
