If my memory serves me correctly, those amphibious tanks were based off designs from the 60s. Even Chinese critics themselves don't say good things about it. I personally believe they're useless in the Taiwan theater. It's better to develop something newer from a clean slate, something as capable as the cancelled American expeditionary vehicle. This tank is super slow and easy to topple over, the worst is that isn't can barely fire its guns in rough weather, fearing of toppling over.

Yup,still building type022 missile boat ... 022 and new 056 will be the main coastal defense power of PLAN. Of course i don't know the exact number of type022,but rumors said currently greater than 80 serving ships and still building it.

New 056 class just designed for coastal defense, so the body is small and installing limited weapon systems.
