It's got a mockup of 2 hatches which aren't present on any other PLA tank as well.

This is it probably, next generation tank incoming soon. Any parades this years where it could feasibly be revealed?

We have every 10 years (99, 09, 19 and in the future 29, 39 etc.), and we might have in the future ww2 victory parades (15, 25, 35 etc.) and possibly also 17, 27, 37 etc. which is for the PLA (the parade hold in desert).

So next parade might be 2025, 2027 or 2029.

I think you guys are right. This video shows the side hull of the tank exploding, possibly indicating ERA. If so, it’s nice that the PLA is paying attention to side armor, I also wonder if this demo was conducted this year?
I found the latter half of the video very interesting actually, we've already seen for example merkerva how you can maximize the protection package on a mbt to an absurd level, ceiling is probably somewhere there before it becomes too cumbersome to be useful.

On the other hand the stuff about AI/UAV integration in network centric warfare isn't talked about much in general for mbts, there seem to be some content about autonomous target prioritisation to achieve better efficiency? Gen 4 mbt could be optionally manned it would seem if the amount of time spent on protection is just as much on network centric warfare.

Perhaps next gen can be both manned and unmanned. Unmanned would have lightly armoured default chassis, Crewed variant will have a armoured compartment with modular active systems.

I dislike the idea of unmanned means less armor. No less crew space is more efficient for heavy armor. Unmanned tanks should be most protected. Unmanned turret should also be well protected. All while less weight.

Errrr, I guess that articulated MLRS might have given people ideas.
Norinco presentation, the diagram is future tank proposal, from front to back the different parts are:

Front unit:
turret - heavy firepower unit
crew cabin
computation unit
power unit
propulsion unit
Front unit is made up of crew cabin, communication unit, computation unit, power unit, heavy firepower unit (electric launch), defense unit and propulsion unit, can hold infantry

Rear unit:
turret - support firepower unit
ammo
UAV
UGV
Rear unit is made up of support firepower unit (VLS missile/loitering munition/autocannon), space for infantry, UAV, UGV, ammo and fuel.
