The more interesting bit is that the left side of the rear is "boxed" up....over seats for dismounted infantry

It make sense sequentially if you consider the previous one is 99B. Total nonsense if you follow the year rule though.
Yeah so why was the Type 15 named Type 15?
ZTQ-15 followed the year-rule.
ZTZ-100 doesn't - which is unsurprising, given how the PLA naming conventions appear to have broken down across the board these past couple years.
