A subtle hint, or a placeholder?

Besides, do we know whether Chengdu is the only one working on the 6th-generation fighter project right now? Or Shenyang as well?

Furthermore, I was thinking about whether Chengdu and Shenyang could be working on 6th-generation fighters at the same time? That is, perhaps Chengdu would be focusing on the PLAAF (land-based) variant, and Shenyang would be focusing on the PLAN (including carrier-based) variant? This arrangement could be somewhat similar to the USA's NGAD (for the USAF) and F/A-XX (for the USN).

Perhaps this could explain the rather leisurely pace of Shenyang WRT the construction and testing of J-35 prototypes, as some has claimed?

Pretty much just a concept right now. The engineers in question are avionics and flight control engineers.

Still some slight differences between the two. Either a brand new demonstrator was built and flown or a CGI. The model in the promotional video looks like a twin engine, and the engines extend outward a bit beyond the wings. The satellite photo model looks single engine and does not have the engines sticking out beyond the wing. I think the one in the video is an iterative improvement/upgrade over the older model we saw

Agreed ... for the moment I think it is more likely a CG

Am rather uncomfortable with how the twin engines are sticking out of the airframe like a sore thumb... That likely won't do any good for the stealthiness that is expected from a 6th-gen fighter.

Therefore, I would incline to believe that this is a (partial) tech demonstrator of some kind... or that it's another unknown drone project.

Just got a wider screen capture of that particular scene. Also by

First, the right screen partially blocked by a guy:

Part of that screen looks like it is displaying a cockpit view from a flight simulator software.

Then there is the portion underneath the center screen:

This guy is sitting inside a cubicle that looks like a cockpit mockup of a fighter jet towards the front. Notice another screen right in front of him (which looks like it is also displaying the cockpit view of the testbed plane itself, with the canopy frame partially visible), the throttle lever to the left, and the side stick to the right.

So, I think the 6th-generation fighter shown on the center screen very likely a CGI indeed.

Or (a huge) maybe, a live video feed from a chase plane that is flying alongside the actual testbed plane, but I don't think this case is likely.

This particular scene in the video can be hinting that China is already working on (at least one) 6th-generation fighter project, but I think that's as far as we could go. There isn't much feature and capability that can be deciphered from the plane shown on the center screen other than what we have known from publically-available CG images.

However, there is one other thing - What's that inside the red circle?

Display pop-ups of the flight simulator software? Or another simulated plane flying alongside as wingman?
