Can someone estimate the weapon bay(s)? Looks like a nice big flat area from the bottom
We'll need much higher quality imagery to do that. But indeed there is a lot of ventral fuselage area.
Maybe it's just the effect of the lens, but this photo really makes the airframe appear to have two engines instead of three. Perhaps the middle engine, if it exists, is of a special type?
Christmas literally means the birthday of saint in Chinese, and today is Mao’s birthday, which makes sense.
Looks like the J-XD is going to have two bottom and one top intake, the top feeding the middle engine. Presumably, this also means separate and independent intake ducts for each engine, as opposed to multiple engines sharing intakes which has been discussed before on this thread.
That configuration also makes sense, and is a reasonable compromise. Certainly it makes much more sense than having all three engines fed from dorsal intakes.
