Since this is just a joint exercise to essentially train Laotian troops and enhance the relationship between the two nations’ militaries, there is no need to carry a combat load. Combat loads are heavy and can wear down a soldier’s knees to the point of long lasting knee injuries. There is a reason why every US infantry vet jokes about the VA and knee injuries. Plus, US troops don’t train with plates 24/7. They only do so in select exercises. As for scopes, if you have been following the infantry equipment thread at all, you know that the scopes are slowly but surely getting distributed. Given your post history, you should really etch this into your memory because you brought this so many times to the point in which I think you are just trolling.
That was said by a general back in the early 2000’s. He said that body armor reduces the fighting spirit of a soldier when that is just an asinine statement if you just talk to veterans from Iraq, Afghanistan and now Ukraine. There is a reason why the Russians (and most likely the Ukrainians) are buying body armor en masse. War isn’t fun and games. It’s a matter of life and death. All of this equipment is designed to make sure the soldier can have all of the necessary choices to survive and go back home.
