China should stay with the Mil-17. It is more capable in capacity, more range, but a little slower. It has a ramp however, while the Black Hawk doesn't.(The chopper is attractive, but that big tail with its inconvient and sometimes unusable shape is just a big chunk in the trunk...) Plus, China has no spares for the Black Hawk, and any copying is just an unneeded gamble.
As for the Z-8, it does about the same as the Mil-17, but uses three engines. And the in test Z-8A is said to have failed its tests.(Heard from one of the sites, Huitong?) Plus, how much are they making each year?
Dude, the hound is the Ka-1/2.......
I doubt the New copter will be named Z-10. Since you have the WZ-10 and for its role it will have a slim body, how will the unarmed Z-10 carry anything?
The Z-9 is enough for now. It's light, but it carries enough and is fast, quiet, and have the longest range of any Chinese copter in service. (1000km)
