What do you mean "how"?

The UVLS is a modular system that is designed from the outset to be able to pack more than one payload in a cell.
A multipack approach (whether quadpack or dualpack or otherwise) can use either a cold launch approach (separate cold launch mechanism for each individual payload) or a hot launch approach which would be some variation of having a concentric venting system like the UVLS launch of YJ-18.
For both approaches, each individual payload in the multipacked cell will sit in its own housing/subcanister.

What I meant, HHQ-9C diameter is estimated at 450–500 mm, I don't see how it can be quad packed on UVLS with the size of 850 mm × 850 mm square

It probably isn't quadpacked, but rather dualpacked.

Based on that, you can reverse-engineer what the maximum footprint of a dualpacked payload is in a 850mmx850mm cell space, and you can judge how accurate the estimated dimensions of HHQ-9C are in context of its maximum fixed width (booster diameter) and folded fin wingspan.

Not impossible, after all the HQ-11 AIUI is the domestic improved version of FM-3000 which itself has the naval quadpackable FM-3000N version with an ESSM esque performance band (though being an export product and ARH).

But it is also possible they went for a different, clean sheet missile.

I also do have a feeling that if 555 was a variant of HQ-11 we would've heard about it, but who knows.

HQ-9C is in fact an overall superior system to HQ9B. The booster version can reach even slightly longer than HQ9B due to technology advances and its two stage nature. The version without a booster can also reach at least 150km.

Yeah, it should be in a 150-200 bracket(in fact I was sure it was there, didn't pay enough attention). It's a big enough missile.

Cant keep track with all these new SAMs, but HQ/HHQ-9C is thought to have attitude thrusters and hit to kill warhead right? IIRC those are the 2 features which make the MSE good at ABM.

This is not necessary connected (you can have pif-paf on SAMP/T and be absolutely 0 at ABM; you can do very good ABM on just aerodynamics if you're fast and have lots of pressure over surfaces even at altitude - S-300V/500).

Though it'll be quite strange not to indeed.
