We have footage of the HQ-19 launching. It is long and thin, similar to THAAD. If the missile is supposed to be midcourse, and also haul around a 150 kg warhead, it'd likely need to be significantly bigger.

Wasn't DN-3 just a test vehicle? And a very old one at that.
Actually, I doubt there’s any effective design based on explosives for exoatmospheric mid-course interception to begin with…

Speaking of which - Both Cute Orca and @万年炎帝 on Weibo agreed that the HQ-19 can be viewed as an equivalent to something that still exists on PPT across the lake - THAAD-ER.

Given the greater degree of secrecy surrounding China's ABM systems, it shouldn't come as any surprise that the HQ-19 is already in active service way before 2020 (some put that at 3-4 years prior to 2020).
