Some truck-mounted aircraft mockup models under scaffolding, seen on satellite imagery (dated 12 June 2025) at the military parade training base outside Beijing. Are those mockup models of the J-36 and J-XDS for the September 3rd parade? The silhouettes look similar.

I think that going forward, aircrafts with similar silhouettes will be extremely common. These two would be too small to be the manned six-gens.

I highly doubt it. I don’t think the program is at that advanced of a stage yet.

What program, CCAs?

There probably is no singular CCA airframe or singular CCA program, but rather multiple.

As for advancement of their development, I would not be surprised if a few of their CCAs were sufficiently along for user trials by now.

But whether they would show an actual airframe or their various CCAs versus mockups, has no bearing on how far along the programs are.

Considering this group of trucks is led by what seems to be a GJ-11 and a drone that looks like it is GJ-2/3 esque in pattern, I suspect all of these things carried on the trucks are going to be UAVs.

Scale models of J-36 and J-XDS seem very unlikely to me, for obvious reasons -- it implies the PLA would officially acknowledge their existence, and do so in such an odd way.

OTOH, we know they've been developing and testing various types of UCAVs and CCAs, and the various depicted platforms are all appropriate for CCAs in both geometry and size.

If these models are indeed those of the CCAs then it is a bit strange that they are revealing them for the parade since according to ShiLao they are supposed to be a close guarded secret. Then again maybe it will have a deterrence effect…

I'm not sure if announcing the fact that they exist and what they look like would be a huge revelation tbh.

For CCAs the most important part is the way they are networked and commanded and their onboard weapons and sensors (i.e.: conops).

If these are not CCAs, then I would somewhat be a loss as to what kind of airframes would fulfill the criteria of:
- being a UAV
- looking the way they do (per the satellite pictures)

I'll be really disappointed if the GJ-11 is displayed on a transporter truck again at this year's parade - six years after its debut. I was genuinely looking forward to seeing it fly in formation with the J-20s. :(
Agreed! It should have a long useable lifespan though, so sooner or later we will see it like that. It all comes down to confidence levels that there won't be an accident on the one hand, and that doing so will not inadvertantly reveal something on the other (either a shortcoming or technology used).
