China and UAE will be doing a joint exercise in Xinjiang in August.

Mirage 2000 I'm guessing? They haven't got any Rafale yet right and F-16 is probably also out of question.

Shame that there is no F-16 but at least Mirage 2K is operated by ROCAF, so there is some benefit from training against it. When UAE finally gets Rafales IAF will have no secret against PLAAF with the exception of LCA Tejas.

I don't remember China ever holding a joint exercise in Xinjiang before. If that's true, the choice of venue for this Sino-UAE exercise seems like a bit of F-U to the "international community."

China held plenty of Shaheen exercises in Xinjiang.
My mistake. One could argue, though, that in the eyes of the Usual Suspects, Pakistan "doesn't count" because it's a Chinese debt-trapped vassal etc. The UAE, on the other hand, is a different kettle of fish. At any rate, thank you for the correction.

A nice size comparison. The photo was taken from the Aviation History Museum.

Got this new tweet from @lylegoldstein.

Needless to say, quite an interesting claim from the Russians.

Didn't know that China managed to get their hands on the Yak-38 S/VTOL fighter in the 1990s until now.

The only instance we know about such interactions is when Lockheed Martin got into a partnership with Yakolev on the Yak-131 S/VTOL fighter's development in the same time period.
