Pardon? ... I don't understand your question?

Otherwise I would say, they are at Wuhu!
I mean, I was thinking if Wuhu should be included in the potential bases for aircraft into Taiwan's Adiz. I think they should be on the map Overbom posted.

And do we know if Quzhou has now any permanent deployment of aircraft. I remember we have seen the J-20 there, but they were from Wuhu because of rebuilt of the base.

This map only lists bases with aircraft that have been identified in Taiwan ADIZ.

1. Did any of the news outlets in China report or indicate something similar?

2. Assuming it's true, rumor mentions PLAAF. The navy also has/had one unit of j8 fighters, in addition to some recon variants.

3. Assuming all combat j8 are withdrawn, how worthwhile would be keeping even the recon variants. Logistics and maintenance wise it might be more trouble than it's worth. One would imagine that dedicated recon pods on fast jest could do what recon j8 can do. But curiously enough I don't think I've ever seen any photo or even just talk about Chinese recon pods.

J-8 is still the fastest fighter aircraft in PLAAF when flying clean and has good supersonic performance. I think keeping them as recon is wise.

If the other J-8s have been retired, then there should be a lot of aircraft that can be cannabalised for spares.

And J-8s should be a lot simpler and cheaper to maintain than more modern aircraft.

Of course, this assumes that there is still a place for a fast recon jet.

Also if the recon birds have airframe life left why not use that up rather than using airframe hours for more modern aircraft?

Some screen captures showing two generations of ejection seats: the 4th generation is at the front (yellow pull handle), and in the back are the 3rd generation seats arrange in a row (red pull handles). I know nothing about China's ejection seats, how they differentiate one generation from the next, or on which aircraft the seats in the images are deployed. I'd be happy if anyone knowledgable could give some answers.
