There is amphibious training in Fujian but that’s just par for the course. There was one that involved air support from flankers earlier this year in the SCS, however. Maybe he is taking about that one?

This second large exercise, Cheng said, involves thousands of troops, including special operations forces, the Chinese equivalent of Marines and ground troops. They are practicing amphibious landings and the exercise is described as a joint exercise. However, he couldn’t find any reference to fixed wing aircraft, which would normally be required to consider an exercise as truly joint.

This would seem to be referring to this one:
The scale of this one isn't actually that big and it's a fairly routine exercise. However this time around they got someone good to make the video and it stirred up a lot of interest in Chinese media.

Strange however to compared it to cold war NATO Reforger exercise....
