Well, it says that the aircraft is equipped with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and is used to image the ground after the earthquake since it can penetrate clouds. The SAR aircraft flew a total of 11 sorties totalling 25hrs.
But strangely, it also mentioned that the SAR data is flown back to Beijing by an aircraft for analysis. Looks like the comms links for the area is either knocked out, or simply not up to the task of transmitting the data back to Beijing.
Another aircraft that uses the visible spectrum to image the ground is also mentioned. But it doesn't seem to have been shown in the footage.
If you look at the picture, it has 6 blade propellers, so looks like another KJ-200 being produced. The article itself talks about having 20+ planes on the ground for testing and such. I'm pretty sure not all 20 are for KJ-200, but it'd be interesting to know how many of these are for the high new series and how many are for Y-8C transport.
I guess PLA is quite confortable in revealing its interiors. PLA secrecy is going out the window?
I wish. If it were then we'd be seeing them revealing pics and giving a documentary of the J-XX prototype, 095, 052D and the aircraft carrier under construction.
I'm not even sure if those pictures are actually the inside a KJ-2000 or a simulator (and even if it were the former, showing the operating systems and seating arrangements doesn't really give top secret information away).

My guess would be simulator.. the cheap red plastic Wal Mart stool gave it way for me...
but then again with anything China one never know. They may very well be putting a $4 plastic stool amist all the super hitech multi million dollar equipment.
