PLA AEW&C, SIGINT, EW and MPA thread

A cool image to start the week. I've never seen this particular composition before. The official photographers are usually confined to taking photos using pre-approved compositions and from a set of strictly prescribed angles. This photo is extraordinarily creative by comparison. I hope the photographer doesn't get fired over this.

Tbh I am a little confused here, wasn't KJ-3000 supposed to be dual-sided rotodome?

The picture was probably taken in a showroom of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.

They are probably testing or evaluating approaches. The model can simply be old too.

Is that even a Y-20 fuselage.

It looks like a regular KJ-2000 to me. Wing outline/structure, fuselage proportions doesn't look like Y-20 to me.

And of course they omit a clear view of the T tail or the undercarriage which would be the easiest way to determine identity...

TBH, those slim engines and the paint scheme are kinda straight giveaways that this is a KJ-2000 model.

Also that hump right in front of the wingbox.

Slim engines and paint scheme aren't definitive giveaways that it's a KJ-2000.

Continuing with D-30/WS-18 (slim) engines on a model of a hypothetical Y-20 AEW&C is not beyond the pale, and as for paint scheme it is also not very useful because one could always argue that a hypothetical Y-20 AEW&C would adopt a similar or even identical paint scheme to KJ-2000.

Ultimately it is the structural profile/details of the airframe which one has to look at, and the overall profile is one of KJ-2000/Il-76 rather than Y-20.

While Russia is reeling from the 2nd loss of their very meager fleet of AEW&C aircrafts, here I found a very intriguing claim from quite a while back:

Original posting by @应用技术联合体 on Weibo:
开始暴兵了(
波音、诺思罗普·格鲁曼公司和AEW&C团队的其他公司目前计划在10年内,将E-7A提高到年产6架的高产量。
预计在未来10年内,会有30~40架E-7A会交付给英国、美国等客户。
The arms buildup has began
Boeing, Northrop Grumman and the rest of the AEW&C team currently plan to increase the E-7A production capacity to a high production rate of 6 aircraft a year within the coming 10 years.
It is estimated that in the next 10 years, 30 to 40 E-7As will be delivered to the UK, the US and other customers.

@万年炎帝 quote-posting:
对于美帝来说相当恐怖故事的是,某东大的数字阵列氮化镓雷达预警机年产能已经是诺格PPT的3倍以上...未来达到5倍都很正常。
There's one horror story for the American Empire - The annual production rate of AEW&C aircraft with GaN radar arrays by a certain large Eastern country is already more than 3 times that of the number on Northrop Grumman's PPT... Said production rate reaching 5 times would be considered pretty normal in the future.

@斯文的土匪--- replying:
更恐怖的不单是数量上,种类上更是要面对四型甚至五型有人预警机
What is more frightening is not only the quantity, but also the type, (namely that the American Empire) will have face 4 or even 5 different types of manned AEW&C aircrafts

To recall: @斯文的土匪--- is the exact guy who first posted about the development of new AEW&C radar arrays for the PLA, and he's also the first to mention KJ-700 and KJ-3000 a while ago.

I have seen Cute Orca shared and/or quote-posted a couple of @万年炎帝's other posts in the past, so I think that he is credible to a degree (or at least I am hoping for), though I can't be absolutely sure. @斯文的土匪---'s reply is the only reason that I choose to post this one here after much deliberation.

Anyone has any idea? To verify/add/rectify/refute the claim? Because if this claim is true, China will be having 100+ AEW&C aircrafts within the next 2 years (though a very welcoming development indeed).

Though, TBH, I'm more taken aback by the rate of production claimed instead of the total number to be anticipated in the coming years.
