I wonder how much Taiwan spends scrambling jets to #protectourcountry against PLA aircraft, and more importantly if they can financially afford to keep up with the seemingly increased frequency of encounters
I wonder how much scrambling jets actually costs, considering how pilots need flying hours for excersize anyways

Different type of hours. To meet flight hours each year is not just a number. Pilots have to pass certain certificates, as in different types of flying, most of which are only useful in combat and not in a peacetime patrol. So patrol hours do count to some, but still need to prove airworthiness by doing a whole bunch of other stuff.

This is probably off topic, but can anyone explain how ADIZ are declared/enforced? Is there any international law basis for them?
