Who else thinks this serial ends with “20”...

Me not ... at least unlikely.

If they are allocated to the 26th Division, 76th AR's and following the new serial allocation all KJ-500 serials end with 30x7x (known are 30072 & 30073 (formerly 3047x)....

However we are expecting since some time Naval Aviation KJ-500s assigned to the 2nd Naval Division, which would have 8xx2x-serials ... however unlike to end with a "0".

This video tell the travail of KJ2000 development where they have to start from scratch even developing their own radar testing room? Disappointment of contract cancellation by the Israeli and doubt about their own ability to design advanced radar But decision is made to do it themselves
We know now the Chief designer of radome radar Zhang Liang. Young guy fresh out of Phd program
It also tell the development of KJ 500. Wu Manqing is the chief designer

But actually the cancellation by Israel was a blessing in disguise, otherwise China would still rely on foreign AWACS now

The same why when US Govt banned Intel to sell high performance Phi chips to China in 2015 (Obama), since then we know than indigenous Chinese chips powered the fastest super computer in the world since June 2016 till now, Sunway TaihuLight.

So, perhaps more bans from the US govt is a good thing for China :p ... Chinese indigenous technologies flourishing and also less money to spend for foreign goods

Here is a serial number visible ... albeit unfortunately not readable.

Can anyone with better eyes read the number? ... looks like a xxxx7 (maybe 30077??) on the end.

Best,

Any info about recent crash of some larger chinese aircraft, few days ago? There are some rumors that it was Y-8 SIGINT variant?

Indeed ... most reports seem to confirm that indeed a Y-8G/Y-8GX-3 no. 30513 had been lost with all 12 crew members dead.
