Wonder why China Marine Surveillance would choose such an accident prone plan as patrol aircraft and not something like the new Y-12F.

It's a much bigger plane (around 20t takeoff weight against <6t for Y-12)

Ma-60 is accident prone when used by a less competent Indonesian airline, as any aircraft type might be.

I have been waiting for this picture for a while . Few pages back we saw Y8Q at various stages being fabricated I saw 4 at least

We might be at 8 kj500 and 8 Y8q produced, currently. And given the pace of production, there might be several more added each year. While fo rY8q i see such a need, even for upward of 50-100 airframes, I do believe kj500 production will cease soon enough, as there's hardly an urgent need for 50+ AEW planes.
