When a platform change occurs in a squadron their role can also change (this is normal.)

Also, 7 Squadron (one of the 2 squadrons where the J-10C is headed) flies Mirage III ROSE. That's a multi-role squadron deployed in Karachi (at the coast.) It may remain multi-role or may switch to Air Superiority.

The other squadron I heard will be deployed at Kamra, that's Northern Air Command. This is where Rafales are expected, out of Ambala AFB. This squadron would most likely be Air Superiority I'd think.
They can't switch to air superiority in Karachi because they would need to support Navy in the seas and perform strike missions on key installation deep inside India. So J-10CP is going to be fully multirole + nuclear delivery platform, if they gonna replace Mirages.

No air refueling for J10-CP? what's the range for J10C?
Now indians would say that it can't refuel. And raise the same dumb point for JF-17s and expect to be provided with a documented evidence by a third party source, because according to them Pakistan or China aren't capable enough ;):cool:

If that's the case then there is a bad news too. PAF wouldn't be acquiring them in large numbers then.

There's no reason to assume that.

The IAF has a tender for 125 additional fighters.

That's why some people are expecting another (larger) order of J-10Cs in the future.

They can't switch to air superiority in Karachi because they would need to support Navy in the seas and perform strike missions on key installation deep inside India.

Covering the Navy is part of air superiority (over the seas.) And the J-10 isn't the only strike-capable platform beside the Mirage.

The J-10C is a flexible platform. Squadrons will have options to swing between capabilities, with a primary and secondary specializations.
