Tp F-16 C/Ds are also equipped with F-100s. 30/32 40/42 50/52 denote variants in each block with either F-100 or F-110 engines.
But you are right about the thrust for the A/B models my mistake.
BTW the PW F-100 229 engines used in F-16 C/Ds generate "more" thrust than the F-110.
Figure are as follows
First the F-100 229 17,800 lbs dry thrust and 29,100 lbs thrust afterburning.
The F-110 17,155 lbs dry and 28,984 lbs afterburning

According to F-16.net;

F-16C/D Block 52: - F100-PW-229 turbofan, rated at 17,000 lb.s.t. dry and 28,500 lb.s.t. with afterburning

F-16A/B MLU: - F100-PW-220 turbofan, rated at 14,590 lb.s.t. dry and 23,770 lb.s.t. with afterburning.

PAF will probably choose Pratt & Whitney to ease logistical costs; our current F-16s use F100-PW-200.

Diving falcon the thrust figures for PW F-100 229 on F-16.net are wrong. Look this engine up in any Jane's All The Worlds Aircraft or P&W literature if you'r dad has some. The figure's stated there are the one's I've posted above.

I see, you're right; I tend to rely on f-16.net a lot.

For sure the Block 15 got manoeuvrability and for Air Combat Manoeuvring, the AN/APG-66 dosn't differ to much of the APG-68.

The main difference is the long range engagment when the APG-68 is indeed better than APG-66 and is able to use AIM-120 missiles when the Block 15 lacks with it's AIM-7's.

Pakistan will buy 44 F-16 from US
Updated at 1620 PST
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) chief Air Marshall Tanvir Mahmood Ahmad has said that Pakistan would be buying 26 used and 18 new F-16 aircrafts costing $3 billion from the US.

Briefing the media representatives here at the Air Headquarter, Air Marshall Tanvir Mahmood told that Pakistan would be buying A and B Block’s 26 used and C and D Block’s 18 new F-16 aircrafts from the US. He said that the total cost of these aircrafts would amount to $3 billion, which would be paid during 5 to 15 years period. He told that the used aircrafts would be delivered to Pakistan within 15 to 18 months, while the new ones in 7 to 8 years period. WTF 7-8 years wacko.gif wacko.gif )

Air Marshall Tanvir Mahmood Ahmad told that the PAF presently possess 34 F-16 aircrafts. He said that the PAF continued to pursue the policy of maintaining the minimum defensive capability and it has the ability to face any challenge.

He said that the PAF was fully aware of its role as regards maintaining peace in the region and added that Pakistan didn’t transfer F-16 aircraft technology to any other country, terming all such talks a mere propaganda.

Responding to a question, PAF chief told that PAF was a disciplined organization and denied any pilot refusing to undertake operation in North Waziristan. He told that Pakistan was a partner in the ongoing war against terrorism and PAF was bound to obey the decision taken by the government whatsoever in this regard.

Responding to another question, Air Marshall Tanvir Mahmood told that the PAF possess one Fokker aircraft, which was being used regularly. He told that the PAF possess 25/30 years old aircrafts based on the technology of the 60s and, therefore, its fleet was being upgraded and modernized.

He told that JF-17 Thunder aircraft from China was also being obtained, while the capability of overhauling the aircraft engine at Kamra was being developed. He told that the earlier obtained F-16s needed upgradation, which would be done in due course.
it looks like the decision with the option of 18 will be made at a later time.

Remember guys I said that the reason the F-16's were being supplied because
of the danger of losing any influence whatsoever in pakistan.

I still think Pakistan got a lousy deal.

Henry Hyde, the Illinois Republican who chairs the House panel, said he was "troubled" by the idea that the deal would help China and by extension Chinese arms customers such as
Iran and Iran's clients in the Middle East, including Hizbollah.

"We don't think China will be advantaged by this sale at all," said Hillen.

"In fact, the best thing that could happen for the Chinese military is for a sale like this not to go through because then it is they who will have access to influence the Pakistan military as opposed to the United States," he said.

"We want to build this relationship precisely to help them get better at combating terrorism, Hillen later added.

well despite all the fusss about the F-16's.... this deal went through and why not.. The US wants to have strong relations with Pakistan, the worlds only Nuclear Islamic Power and influential country in the Middle East /Asia. To lose such an influence with a vitaly located country(geostrategically on the 'border' of four continents) would be foolish and unwise. Furthermore, after being kicked out of Uzbekistan, Pakistan is affording/supplying all of the logistics transport facilities to the International/American community in Afghanistan to say the least. the 90's saw a decrease in this influence and now we will only see attempts to sway Pakistan 'back' into the western camp away from Asia/Middle East with generous economic and more importantly(for the dominating Military of Pak) the armed forces getting a bunch of equipment/training programs.
I dont think its going to change anything significantly in the region vis-a-vis balance, rather the current setup btw Pakistan and its rival is of an Imbalance which is extremely destabilizing as India's wild procurement spree goes on unchecked without any apparent aim or clearly established intention which is quite unsettling to the surrounding countries . A balance has to be found. But the PAF needs to focus more on acquiring aircraft from other sources and diversifying as well as going more towards the indigenous route as is happening with the F-17, and later F-10 programs. This will be the wise choice for the future as it should learn from the past. Plus, China and Pakistan make a great team, a great synergism u can say, and I think much more advancement and independance(from foreign firms) can be achieved if these two countries work on more projects together. :coffee:
