This is exactly what happened during the Japanese invasion and WW1. China sent labouers to support the Allied war effort and China got nothing in return. To add insult to injury those labouers were left to die and fend for themselves. The west was literally doing nothing while China was invaded and they even were secretly supporting Japan. After WW2 they threw China under the bus again by preventing China from reciving any reparations and rewrite history saying Hirohito was just a powerless figure when he is clearly not.

This could even apply to modern times. China stood with the US against terrorism but when Uyghur Terrorist attacked China the west criticzed China.
They orchestrated it.

Seems like a common sentiment about Xi the man.

“I’ve never encountered anyone as cold-blooded in their calculations of national or personal interest as Xi Jinping,” said Ryan Hass, former China director with the National Security Council during the administration of US President Joe Biden.

“And I don’t expect that that’s going to change any time soon,” added Hass, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. “He’s not emotionally soft. He’s not easily swayed by charm. And I think that we should take that into account.”

Lee Kuan Yew still said it better though.

He has had a tougher life than Hu Jintao. His father was rusticated, and so was he. He took it in stride, and worked his way up. It has not been smooth sailing for him. His life experiences must have hardened him. He is reserved—not in the sense that he will not talk to you, but in the sense that he will not betray his likes and dislikes. There is always a pleasant smile on his face, whether or not you have said something that annoyed him. He has iron in his soul, more than Hu Jintao, who ascended the ranks without experiencing the trials and tribulations that Xi endured. I would put him in Nelson Mandela’s class of persons. He is a person with enormous emotional stability who does not allow his personal misfortunes or sufferings to affect his judgment. He is impressive.

The mo' money we come across, the mo' problem we seeeeeee.
Only forced reeducation in the thread title can fix the problem at root level.

how devolved is their take on politics. Like it's theatre. Or if one makes a slip or a long pause, it will change his course on politics. Anyway the other side is rambling, Xi is stable like a rock
If Chinese millennials take over leadership then there is little to worry about. They are smart, confident (for the most part), and are the biggest trolls this side of the Himalayas. If they were in charge right now they’d probably list extradition of John Bolton/Pompeo to the PRC as a part of nonnegotiable demands for RE/soybeans talk.
