The total starts for China in 2025 is now 7, the highest number since 2010 - before the Fukushima meltdown.

Also - from what I can find (PRIS used to show starts with a slight delay, but hasn't been updating properly this year) - total starts outside China is 3, with one in each of Russia, Korea and Canada.

China achieves breakthrough in key technologies for metal fuel manufacturing..​


The China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) officially announced today that, with the support of national and CNNC research projects, the experimental line for the manufacturing principle of metal fuels, led by CIAE, has completed integration and verification at the Huludao base.

Under simulated hot chamber test bench conditions, the project completed the principle verification of three core units: core casting, single rod manufacturing, and component assembly. It achieved several key technological breakthroughs in various aspects such as process flow, key equipment, components, and core materials, effectively improving the technological maturity of metal fuel manufacturing and laying a solid foundation for the engineering verification of integrated fast reactor metal fuel .
