That would enable them to get Chinese artillery shell stocks in case of confrontation on the Korean Peninsula.
There is also a lot more work done on improving the performance of 155mm artillery. Or should I say there was before the Koalitsiya came out.

But everything is not necessarily just pessimism. If what I'm looking at is a marine turbine-gas engine, it's almost certain that North Korea is brewing up something BIG - if it's just a small warship, a diesel engine is enough. Either it was intended for later variants of the Nampo/Amnok class frigate, or it belonged to something even more ambitious.
image showing what the DPRK had managed to achieve after the end of the USSR, as I wrote previously, in the early 90s of the last century a Krivak class and specifically a Krivak III (coast guard version) here a photo only as an example

purchased for demolition and for a long period the satellites photographed her in Namp'o in various stages of work, then she disappeared from view, I want to remind you that these ships had a COGAG type engine system with two different models of gas turbines.
Who knows if the Krivak III itself will appear completely repaired/modified again, or the in-depth study of the same will lead to the creation of a new frigate

Building a 3,000-ton warship would certainly be a huge propaganda victory, but achieving it would be extremely technically difficult for North Korea, who have never built any surface ship larger than 1600t, and do they have the right weapons systems and sensors for such a large ship?

And even if successful, the question of how to use them and how effective they will be in the face of US-South Korea's superior naval superiority remains a big question mark.

In truth, already in November 2008 they had offered Myanmar a 2500 ton unit, this was possible to reveal thanks to the publication of the report drawn up by the Myanmar military commission which had gone to China and the DPRK to view systems that could be of interest to the army, aviation and navy.
Regarding this 2500 ton unit the commission wrote:

<< “Coast Guard with 2500 ton”
The group observed “Coast Guard with 2500 ton” [sic] ship built and sold by Nam Po Ship Design and Institute Office, same size as the size of the ship being built in our country. That naval ship is 108 meters long, 13.3 meters wide, and 8.2 meters deep and has the following integrated weapon systems:
(1) Information collection unit
(2) Command and control system
(3) Anti-ship missile system
(4) Artillery weapon system
(4.1) 76 mm cheal purpose boat automatic gun weapon system.
(4.2) 30 mm 6 barrel boat automatic anti-aircraft gun system
(4.3) 14.5 mm 6 barrel anti-aircraft gun system
(5) Under-water weapon system
(5.1) 533 mm torpedo
(5.2) 252 mm depth charge rocket system
(5.3) Large depth charge and mine
(6) Electric Warfare weapon system (82 mm decoy launcher)
(b) Weapons on the ship made in DPRK include various modern weapons and weapon systems that can shoot naval enemy, water surface enemy, under water enemy, and some need to turn into more effective weapons and missiles. Poly Company is making them
.>>

The ship was not purchased because, as they write, a frigate of similar dimensions was under construction in Myanmar, which was then called F-11-UMS Aung Zeya, but as could be seen in the first images some North Korean weapon systems were installed on this frigate:
2x14.5 mm 6 barrel anti-aircraft gun system
4x 30mm 6 barrel anti-aircraft gun system
2 x 252 mm depth charge rocket system (north korean version soviet RBU-1200)
6x1 MANPADS
8x Kumsong-3 anti-ship missiles (now replaced by Chinese C-802s)

Online someone has highlighted the extreme similarity of the landing gear with that of the J-7 aka Mig-21 fighter, the rear one which differs due to the inversion in the closure of the landing gear.
As they say about necessity, virtue, using what is already available and well known.

Who knows if it uses the same turbojet as the J-7/Mig-21 Liyang Wopen-13F or Tumanskij R-13 without afterburner ?

Person that made the discovery is what I noticed day before and their argument based around it is utter nonsense.
Such as weight limit being 9 tons thus capabilities must be lower than RQ-4 such as endurance by a lot.
When maximum is 10 tons with such landing gear considering if they want take off from 800 meter aircraft runway.

Consider runway that is 4 times longer and aircraft itself has over 6 times larger wingspan than MiG-21 / J-7 series fighter jets.

And that shows that they've never built a ship that big, right? It's purely a paper design. The largest surface warships that North Korea can build are only about 1,600 tons.

With that fact, from Myanmar's perspective, even if they wanted to buy a 2000t warship from abroad, they would not want to bet on a contractor with unproven quality like North Korea.
