this photo intrigued me


so I tried to enhance it to see the cockpit and I still see with pleasure the upgrade that the North Koreans had done to the instrumentation of the MiG-29.

Indeed and of note this upgrade is quite old iirc, and also done on MiG-23? I can see the MFD, but what you think is the device on the front of the russian HUD?

Yes, in 2017 already seen in the North Korean Mig-29

Unless DPRK upgrade the radar, else the original radar is terrible.

It's hard to know,
But it occurs to me that if they introduce that missile it's possible that they must have also updated the Mig-29's radar, or an AWACS aircraft can provide assistance and provide the necessary data.

Look above the HUD switches, there is some kind of small display or something else there not present on the original HUD. Maybe a chinese GPS or a control panel of some sort?

Am I wrong or these 2 Mig-29s have a bigger hump that reaches up to the engines compared to the other North Korean Mig-29s, it looks like the Mig-29SMT

I don't think so, it looks like MiG-29 9.13 that DPRK has, but i would love to be proven wrong if those are SMTs. Do you have a link to the original video by any chance?
PS: It looks like they are 9.13, SMT spine is bigger/fatter and would almost obscure the canopy from that angle.
