Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's consumer business, later said that mobile developers are welcome to join HarmonyOS on December 16.

Huawei will release the HarmonyOS 2.0 Mobile Developer Beta program on the morning of December 16, when the company will introduce the HarmonyOS 2.0 design concept, DevEco Studio 2.0 one-stop distributed application development platform, and mobile emulators.
In the afternoon, Huawei experts will explain the key features and development tools of HarmonyOS 2.0 Mobile Beta.

Interesting I should give the SDK a go this weekend, it has been while since a did anything mobile apps related as developer.

Hi Peter2018,

Chips man Chips, P series is a Premium product of Huawei. It need the latest Chip usually the 5nm or 7nm , who will FABS that Chip? If SMIC can mass produced it's 7nm N+2, then P50 pro is viable. or SAMSUNG will sell then their 5nm EXYNOS chips

Getting access to TSMC 5 or 7nm tech is out of the question for now, maybe MediaTek or Samsung can deliver a SOC strong enough that Huawei can still work on their photography magic. Staying on top the food chain with photography might be a way to hold onto some market share.

Hi BlackWindMnt,

The reason why Huawei let go of Honor brand is for them to use higher end 5G chips( Huawei is allowed to use Qualcomm 4G chips only) while they wait for SMIC 7nm N+2 for their owned 5G chips (Huawei had develop a 7nm 5G chipset KIRIN 990).

Huawei to Honor,

SMIC still requires the supply of US tainted products. In fact SMIC itself is under US sanctions.
Huawei should still have some stock of chips but I doubt it will last them more than half a year.
The sale of Honor could have been in part to make their existing stock last longer.

Hi gelgoog,

Yup and let the Honor brand be the one to introduced the Harmony OS and propagate it's usage. A wise decision by Ren Zhengfei ,separation is hard enough but as the saying goes if you love somebody then you're willing to let it go.

Aah interesting from the link I'm seeing MediaTek and Honor are going to work together, any word about Hisilicon designers jumping ship to MediaTek?
In addition, MediaTek and Honor are also nearing completion of a supply agreement, with reports suggesting MediaTek has plans to start supplying 5G chips to Honor next year.

Honor's new V40 series of terminals recently received a network license in China, and it is equipped with MediaTek's flagship 5G processor Dimensit 1000+ processor.

Hi BlackWindMnt,

Not only with MediaTek but with Qualcomm and their 5G chipset. Huawei had a lot of project that requires Hisilicon expertise (AI , FABS, DATA , EV Application to name a few), from what I know they are recruiting talents and expanding their R&D. Ren Zhengfei is a fighter, his belief is that in time of adversity one must be prepared for any eventuality.

From what I heard they left HiSilicon for UNISOC i.e. Spreadtrum.
MediaTek is in Taiwan.

Huawei is making a breakthrough.
.." becoming the first to achieve 220 GBaud ultra-high-speed signal transmission (the highest symbol rate in commercial product is around 95 GBaud for the 800G single wavelength transmission, and the highest symbol rate recorded in previous academic research is 192 GBaud)."
