It appears some people can't face the truth even when its staring them in the face. The fact that you can only resort to making "non related remarks" suggests that you dont have anything to offer in refuting my observation made in previous posts." Chinas HSR was done with foreign help which speeded up their expertise......etc
........

Far from non related. Truth is you made up claims of not transparent and 'shonky' deals when you have little knowledge of the details just because your favored parties lost the deals. That's pretty much the definition of sour grapes and whining there and I never expected anything less from you. LOL

As for the tech transfers, again you, and I bet most here, have little knowledge of the details of the arrangements. Just some general mumbo jumbo from you.
What we do know and can clearly see now is China is winning those HSR deals while you, and maybe some of the German/Japanese management, are reduced to whining like 'could have', would have', 'Third world deals' etc. All I was doing was having a good laugh at this behavior. :D

I'm not correcting you but i would like to point you to this excellent article that reveals the agony of the Company CEO's who have to confront this problem and how they think it through.

Thanks it is indeed a good read.

However some of the arguements put up by the pro tech transfer guys about remaining a generation ahead, tech wise, has been used before when applied to all sorts of consumer goods and time is fast proving them wrong
In fact we now have the wholesale transfer of R/D depts to the likes of India and China because of cost savings and if we are now being told there has been a drop off of Westerners studying tech orientated subjects because of the lack of job opportunitiesand so the vicious circle repeats itself.

WE have seen the results of improvisation in the UK and USA, moving away from manufacturing and replacing it with flakey financial services occupations.

This is all good for those in this forum who have links to China and are not adverse to going back to work and live there, but not so everybody who lives in the West is that way inclined or able to. Therfore its about time companies started being more socially responsible than being maximum profit orientated.

The fact that Haier can move to America, set up a Whiteware plant and pay 15-30 dollars hourly, proves that the public have been sold a big con job, when it comes down to the need of offshoring.

Chinese train breaks world speed record

A high-speed train running on the Shanghai-Hangzhou railway set a new speed record of 413.7 kilometers an hour Tuesday.

The train, running between the metropolis of Shanghai and Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang province, started trial operation Tuesday morning.

The high-speed train is expected to reduce rail travel time between the two cities to 38 minutes.

Trains on the 160-kilometer railway line are designed to run at a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour and will cut 40 minutes off the current journey time by express train between the two cities.

The high-speed railway line, which has a total investment of 29.68 billion yuan, commenced construction in February 2009 and is expected to transport 80 million passengers per year.

Ticket prices have yet to be announced.

It seems that you would have us believe that the Chinese who in 2004 as much as admitted that they didnt have to many clues about HSR, are now after 6yrs are world leaders in the industry, and by their own effort..

The fact is the other countries arent raising a big stink about it is because they realise its too late to do too much about it. Its far better to maintaim cordial relations and hope to co operate on joint bids.
But dont be too surprised if in future foreign firms may be more hesitant on tech transfers if China continues to play fast and loose with any such agreements.

Futhermore the advanced countries don't have a problem with China winning contracts fairly, its the cheating and ignoring IP with gives them an advantage is what countries object to.

V2002, to challenge foreign dominance, the railway ministry unveiled the China Star, a home-grown high-speed system developed at a cost of Rmb140m by state-controlled manufacturers using only Chinese intellectual property. But less than two years later, the ministry announced that the core technology was “immature”.
The China Star was quietly shunted into a siding and forgotten as the Chinese companies were encouraged to ramp up digestion of foreign technology instead.

"Lite-Med Inc. was founded in 1991 to carry out Taiwan government's push in manufacturing and development of medical equipment locally for advancement of the medical equipment industry in Taiwan. With successful integration of electronic, mechanical, computer and automation techniques, which is at least equal if not better than the modern world standard, Lite-Med successfully developed a high-tech medical device for the treatment of patients with kidney stones. This is a pioneer development in Taiwan and has been approved to enter the market by Department of Health (DOH) in 2005.

Lite-Med’s dual-module localization Extracorporeal ShockWave Lithotripter (ESWL), LM-9200 ELMA, consists of a high efficiency, painless, no anesthesia-needed shockwave generator, a dual-module auto stone localization system, and a ultrasound stone tracking & locking system.

Utilizing the special functions provided by the above subsystems, Lite-Med’s Lithotripter can not only reduce the side effects such as hematuria, hematoma, reduced renal function and less radiation damage
but also increase the stone-hitting efficiency & patient safety, and improve the stone treatment quality.

Basing on the same shockwave technology, Lite-Med also developed an Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) unit, named Bonstar. With ease of operation, simple localization, friendly user interface, and high mobility Bonstar can effectively treat frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, and other bone, tendon, ligament related diseases. In the near future, the application of shockwave technology can be expanded into treatment of other diseases and fields such as vascular obstruction, cancer treatment, cosmetic surgery, and nervous system diseases, etc.
...
2004 Passed ISO- 13485 Certification

2006 Obtained Certificate of Approval of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy.

2008 Acquired the “2008 Taipei Biotech Award” for our product of “Automatic Dual Localization & Calculus Tracking / Locking System ESWL”

2008 Acquired the “Industrial Innovation achievement award” created by the Ministry of Economic Affairs for our product of “Automatic Dual Localization & Calculus Tracking / Locking System ESWL”

2009 Lite-Med was one of the companies receiving this year's awards of the 'Taiwan Healthcare Industry Innovation and Excellence Awards 2009'"

And you want us to believe you are knowledgeable on HSR tech and details of the tech transfer just because you did some googling ?
I'm not telling anyone to believe anything other than stating what is obvious which is Chinese HSR are winning deals internationally and some of their competitors, or at least their fanboys, are reduced to throwing hissy fits.
But of course a certain fanboy who thinks he has inside info on these dealings insist they COULD HAVE done more if they wanted to but they chose not to to maintain 'cordial relations'. :D
Just like they COULD HAVE won the deals if they really wanted to but chose not to because they were 'Third world' deals which are not worth the effort, whining about them is far more rewarding. :D

The actual words were "Its far better to maintaim cordial relations and hope to co operate on joint bids".

By using my acknowledgement on the sensible route that Siemens has taken (maintaining cordial business relations with China rather than a bitter court battle over IP infringements) for some brainless point scoring, you are revealing yourself to be nothing more than an immature pratt.

Sour grapes it may be , but despite your best attempts to ridicule them, my points are in no way any less valid.

Im done with this conversation so don't bother replying

Outer space tracking of Chang'e-2

chinalunarexploration00.jpg

China's lunar exploration program

With the imminent launch of Chang'e-2, which is most likely on China's National Day on October 1st, it is a propitious time to examine the equipment used to track Chang'e-2 in outer space. We will look at the control center in Beijing, land-based radio telescopes on continental China, and sea-based Yuan Wangs for telemetry, tracking, and command of outer space probes.

I agree, Siemens is smart to choose cordial relations rather than making a fool of themselves in IP court cases against China considering court cases actually requires real evidence to back up one's complaint, unlike on internet forum where general whining will do just fine. :D
