1. Overall national R&D spending increased in 2024 to 503 billion U.S. dollars. this is up 8.3 percent yoy..

2. investment in basic research climbed 10.5 percent last year from 2023 to 249.7 billion yuan, representing 6.91 percent of the total R&D spending.

3. this month China also has announced the creation of venture capital of 1 trillion RMB fund focused on robotics and AI..
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
during two sessions. party pledge for more investment in science and technology , strengthen industry and collaboration also talk about structural reforms in institutes. in past many researchers filled bogus patents in order to win award and funding. this has been stopped. no more free money.

Why even post this guy?
He's not that credible
And write for the NY Times. Red flags all around
But yeah make the Americans feel like cutting funding is good and what everyone wants to to, and that china is racing to cut funding just like them... I'm happy to hear they think that.

Idk his timeline seems fine?

Seems more likely that him being a law professor is talking to other law professors about budget cuts. And legal funding being redirected to hard sciences sounds plausible enough.
