CNOOC with China's first offshore CO2 storage and reinjection in SCS was officially drilled.

The oil field has average depth of 90m and is the first field to be used for carbon capture
Little off topic,
i wonder could those underground CO2 storage be applied to fill up underground hollows left by overusing of water beneath large cities and prevent their sinking (like happening to Mexico City, Jakarta...)?

Kai-Fu Lee was the author of China, Silicon Valley, and the New World Order. Great book, and pretty accurate, although China seems to be behind in the A.I race due to ChatGTP blindsiding everyone.

I hope that A.I development does good in China. I'll seen people on this site shit talk it but GTP-4 is game changing, just 5 mins of using it and I can tell that it and other versions of it will be as transformative as the internet was.

But large laungue models aren't everything, there can be as many models as you can find the data to train them on. The sky is the limit. I wonder if this large A.I models will be the key to get true level 5 self driving cars and trucks.

New Study Reveals Biodiversity Loss Drove Ecological Collapse After the “Great Dying”

The history of life on Earth has been disrupted by several mass extinctions, the greatest of these being the Permian-Triassic extinction event, also known as the Great Dying, which occurred 252 million years ago. While scientists generally agree on its causes, exactly how this mass extinction unfolded—and the ecological collapse that followed—remains a mystery. In a study published in

, researchers analyzed marine ecosystems before, during, and after the Great Dying to better understand the events that led to ecological destabilization.

In doing so, the international study team—composed of researchers from the

in Bristol, U.K.—revealed that biodiversity loss may be the harbinger of a more devastating ecological collapse, a concerning finding given that the rate of species loss today outpaces that during the Great Dying.

“We are currently losing species at a faster rate than in any of Earth’s past extinction events. It is probable that we are in the first phase of another, more severe mass extinction,” Huang said. “We cannot predict the tipping point that will send ecosystems into total collapse, but it is an inevitable outcome if we do not reverse biodiversity loss.”

GPT-4 will change the world (actually it will probably become obsolete before it even can, when something in a few months to a year comes out that will change the world even more).

Between GPT-4 and Bing AI I have automated >60% of my job already.

I work like 2-3 hours a day now lmao

Huawei is still the leader in global telecom market despite US sanction. Furthermore, it has already started to promote 5.5G.

Huawei's AI research without using NVIDIA chips.
How do you know they are not using any Nvidia chips? Remember, Huawei still has been importing some high end chips from Qualcomm and Nvidia. Ascend 910 is unlikely to cover their entire need.
