Deepseek translation: As the new generation of armored equipment in the Army's ground assault forces, the reviewed Type 99B tanks, Type 100 tanks, and Type 100 support combat vehicles fully demonstrate their powerful capabilities in seizing key points through mobility and achieving breakthroughs in offensive operations. They are an important component of the military's high-tech equipment system. Building upon the foundation of the Type 99A tank, the Type 99B tank has significantly enhanced its capabilities in integrated joint operations under informatized conditions, firepower strikes against diverse targets, mobility in complex terrain, and sustained crew operations in harsh weather conditions through technological integration and functional expansion. The Type 100 tank and Type 100 support combat vehicle are capable of executing operational tasks such as long-range rapid deployment, seizure and control of campaign objectives, deep tactical assaults, urban offensive and defensive operations, and joint fire guidance. The formation was primarily organized by a combined brigade of the 82nd Group Army of the Army. This unit is the military's first motorized force, the first mechanized force, and the first digitized force.

A closer look at the optical device mounted on the barrel of a Type-99 (ZTZ-99A). Does anyone know what purpose it serves?

Could it be part of an optical muzzle reference system? For detecting barrel bend ?
According to

, it is for the "position sensitive detector (PSD)" which is to "... identify and correct firing errors with muzzle reference system (MRS) mounted at the tip of the gun barrel as well as position sensitive detector (PSD) situated at the base of the barrel underneath the ST16 millimeter-wave radar panel (an IFF module).
According to what the article says and how Google translates it.
I would like a second source (as all I have is that article) to confirm that it is the PSD/MRS and not a missile guidance module for the GP125 ATGM that is fired through the gun tube.

You are correct, actually, if you pay attention to what they shown in Zhuhai's VT4/VT4A1, the module is much smaller since it only includes the MRS

I hate to be nit picky, but how about we call the module at the breach end of the gun tube "the PSD", while the module at the end of the gun tube the "MRS" to be technically correct, right?
