New Type98/99 MBT thread

I think semi-amphibious IFVs and gun carriers have largely supplemented the role that MBTs would serve on a island hopping campaign, you need to remember that Sherman's weight about the same as a T-72, a full 20+ tons lighter than a type 99. I can certainly see type 15s being used, but type 99 esq heavily protected tanks seem too unwieldy to be practically used in islands, they simply can't be off shore deployed like IFVs can.
Sure the amphibious IFVs and assault guns could cover the beach assault phase, I am certainly not hoping for a hot beach landing with LCACs loaded with tanks against a peer enemy and a sufficiently fortified beach, but I don't think amphibious IFVs and assault guns will be sufficient for bigger islands in the post-landing phase where the enemies have more area for defense in depth and the MBTs will be required for breakthroughs and anti-fortification work. In this phase the tanks can unload more safely.

In fact islands might lack even the area for maneuver for these amphibious IFVs and assault guns which is another strike against their survivability and long term effectiveness in the campaign. Though I might be completely wrong and the next big thing in island hopping campaigns post-landing might be heavy IFVs like the VN-20 and BMPT terminator where they can carry out anti-fortification and basic anti-tank work with their ATGMs while having sufficient armour and APSes for line breakthroughs.

Ukraine is not a limited war. In fact, if we were going to see tank duels this should have been the time. Both countries had a lot of tanks and gained more during the war. One of the parties is the biggest producer of tanks on the planet. The other one had hundreds. The terrain is mostly flat. Tank duels have been exceedingly rare even in this context.
Any war not WWIII counts as a limited war these days LOL. Literally depleting stockpile of entire NATO and former Warsaw Pact with thousands of tanks each side.

Can someone tell me which tank this is? I saw this in a YouTube video featuring the ZBD 04A. I need to know this as I am picking tanks to include in my game.unknown_2023.08.05-03.45.png

I don't know if this is the right thread for my Question, but I read that the PLAGF's core are the Artillery rather than tanks.
So what roles does Tanks plays in the PLAGF doctrines?

To be practical, I don't think PLAGF emphasizes on tank anymore, it is very vulnerable against UAV & Drones.
The fancy and expensive Leopard 2 was easily destroyed in the Russo-Ukrainian war.
There're barely any news about the new Chinese MBT, compared to some fancy Western stuffs like KF-51 or Black Panther.

Not until there's something that'd surpass tank as principle ground offensive hardware.

Right now, it's about countermeasure(s) that can be fitted onto existing platform(s), as well as development for the new platform that take in new lessons and demands raised.

Look at ZBD-08 and ZTL-11 in the mixed brigade, they have way better maneuverability.
PLAGF still adopts a defensive doctrine, since the infrastructure is superb, wheeled-vehicles are emphasized.
The problem for MBT is, how heavy shall the tank be? Hardly anything can survive after being hit by a decent 120/125mm tank gun, is it still necessary to have the tank more heavily armored?
