Korea is most likely PLA's next landwar. That's why 300,000 troops are deployed to Yalu River including China's best tanks Type 99 was seen driving towards Yalu border so how can you say K2 Panthers are least likely adversary?

Who said that? In any case, SK is not going to invade into China and China is not going into SK. Quite possibly won't even go into NK since they have ICBMs and fission weapons, no one wants to topple that whole thing with a shooting war because SK and Japan get nuked if NK goes down shooting.

So K2 and Type 99 probably won't meet even if there's a war in Korea. China sending those tanks there is simply to guard against potential intrusion. This probably won't happen but it's one of the places they keep Type 99s. It's also the most dangerous point. So why wouldn't they send military equipment there.

Whilst the K2 is perhaps not the least likely adversary, it would be an unlikely adversary. Both China, SK and NK have motives to maintain stability. China and SK would in the case of a conflict want to limit the scale of the conflict. In the interest of maintaining stability of the region, it is highly unlikely for China and SK to come into direct conflict. The most likely scenario for a K2 and Type-99 engagement would be Blue on Green and Green on Blue incidents IMO. However, only time will tell if things change. I doubt that in a Korean peninsula conflict that Type 99s will ever be sent out specifically and intentionally to hunt K2s and vice-versa.

Also, are you aware if the 300K troops are still there? There have been multiple instances of tension in the past and to demonstrate Beijing's disapproval, troops and equipment have been deployed to the border region and withdrawn at a later date.

I can see China engaged in a conflict with South Korea.

If (god forbid) China-USA ever get into a full-scale war, then North Korea will have the opportunity of a lifetime, and will start a war against SK.

China can't very well allow US/SK troops to conquer North Korea, and be poised to enter mainland China (like the last Korean war).

And China would have decent odds in conquering the Korean peninsula and obtaining a stalemate/victory over the USA.

Numbers wise South Koreas primary tank is the K1 series which often dubbed the baby Abrams.

But we keep diressing into a topic that is by our own rules forbidden.
No "what if" discussion about war, particularly nuclear war, between China and other nations, or between any nations

Korean army specifically practices against MBT's like Type 99 and T-90S because K1 is Overkill for NK MBTs and K2 is over-overkill for NK MBTs.

They don't even practice against North Korean MBT, they train against Chinese/Russian tanks because NK MBTs are so aged and obsolete, it's not much rigor to training against them. (NK tanks can't pen frontal armor of K1s)

We can hypothesize all we want but in reality, South Korean tanks train against Chinese and Russian tanks as Red targets. They even designed and procured K2 to specifically counter Type 99 and T-90S, because K2 is way Overkill for NK MBTs. K1s were already Overkill for NK MBT.

There is really no such thing as "training specifically against a specific type of tank", because it practical reality all tanks fight in pretty much the same way And as the old saying goes : "There is no such thing as overkill". If a military can have the option to totally dominate the opposing side, it has every reason to do so in view of negating its own losses.
Then there is the numerical issue, while South Korea's MBTs are always going to be technically superior to that of NK's. NK still have the numerical superiority simply because it can afford to sacrifice damn well everything on a silver platter to military procurement. So there is sense in SK designing such a advance tank to negate NK's numbers.

Last I checked, South Korean Opfor training had access to T72,T62 and T80 tanks. The latter came directly from Russia in the late 80s Early 90s as barter to pay off Russian Debts.

These tanks are pretty close to the actual top tier tanks of the North Korean forces. However it's important to remember that in force on force the Numbers game goes to the north who build there tanks in the thousands.
The South Korean Army therefore focuses on force multiplayers. Reasoning that a asvancad tank with a well trained crew can win against a numerically superior foe.
The North Koreans though not has advanced have continued to design and evolve there indigenous tanks to try and keep up and ahead in numbers.
