That's the point though - Pics released officially would have poses and be deliberate, unless these pics are unofficially snapped by their comrades or something.

Besides the first two pics it doesn't look like its professionally done at all. There also doesn't seem to be any other sources for these weapons which is quite strange.

Well the other question would be their winter camouflage? The are PAP, so I guess they have different requirement. On another note, does China use the rifle with blank cartridge and with a yellow plug on the end of the gun barrel like how US military train in urban combat?

It doesn't look be used with blanks. The barrel is replaced with optics (presumably for the laser)

Bizarre. It looks kinda futuristic. I like it.

So, if this is what the PLA practice with, does that mean there is a new type of assault rifle that western intelligence are not aware of?

Considering Type-95 (QBZ-95) is almost 16 years old, and Type-03 (QBZ-03) almost 8 years old, it seems its about time PLA introduce another new assault rifle... (8 year cycle?)

Well western intelligence mostly worries about the strategic stuff like ICBMs.

New small arms are rarely seen before they are introduced so your theory is quite likely.

See the Chinese small arms thread for the new sexy dual calibre rifle.
