I think it is definitely on the cards, but I'd like a bit more corroborating indicators from the usual suspects and overall grapevine first.

That's because merging two threads together is easy to do, but unmerging a thread back into their constituents is damn near impossible lol

The new SSN's X-fins, unlike those in Shanghai, are not covered by shade cloth. Their size looks just normal, not bigger than the 095's fins.

Realigning the 09V and 09VA? against the higher resolution public satellite images. Integrating the latest rumor from Otter and assuming equal pressure hull diameter it does seem the 09VA has significantly increased length and volume.

A very rough comparison with Seawolf and Jimmy Carter using HI Sutton's drawings. The Jimmy Carter has a 30m hull insert vs the Seawolf. I estimate the 09VA has about half of that (15m increased length) vs the 09V.

I dont have anything definitive, but it may be worth keeping an eye on this area with the new boats. Just going by stuff I hear.

I am told this is where the VLS is, somewhat similar (but not the same) to the forward config on American boats. However, take it with a grain of salt, consider it speculation for now.

Oh so it has VLS both in front and behind the sail like the Virginias? If it so, then this might solve the puzzle re 09X seemingly having fewer VLS than 095, it will actually have more of them.

I'm not in fact convinced it has a VLS in the back, but I may well be wrong.
