This is an older design... They did base J20 on this. But their new research project also have canards.. 611 really like canards...

I'm suspecting that the J-10D is the same project as the rumored single-engine 5th gen fighter.

J10D is a different beast from the brand new project they started last year.
But both are based on J20 tech and some older research they did like the pre-J20 single engine project.
I don't know enough about the new project, it could probably change anyway.
My uncle only said they got new projects, but J10 is approaching is its approvement end. J10 will get more upgrades over the next couple of years but not going to see anything too drastic.
When I said warmer, i meant all these projects are all based on the same tech that developed J20.
That's pretty much all I can say, any more my uncle might go for tea and get fired.

No idea about schedule specifics like roll out dates, sorry. I only know general project info like when they roughly started and general direction. And if that direction changes, I probably won't know until you guys knows. It just makes it easier for me to connect the dots.
I haven't heard about a VSTOL type that they are working on. But then again, no one in my family tells me details.
J10D is not going to have huge changes from C in my opinion. Last year my uncle mentioned J10 support is winding down, most of their best guys are working on J20's projects now. So from the sounds of it, don't expect drastic charges. There is only so much they can do with that airframe now and I don't think there will be huge investments made to make it stealthy. It simply is not worth it.
My uncle, who is a aerodynamics/airframes engineer, is still working on JF17 sometimes, so maybe we might see bigger changes to that than J10.

Not that I know of.
Like I said before, I know of 5 major projects:
1) JF17 improvements - which is mostly semi retired super experienced engineers with new hires
2) J10 improvements - same as JF17 for staffing
3) J20 projects - mostly people in their prime working on this I heard, expecting the team to stay intact for a long time
4) new project that was started last year also based on J20 tech (all solid info that I have, rest is speculation), think its a transformation into something else. Like naval? Or smaller? How accurate this is, I don't know. Just heard about it offhand. I'm only guessing here, so you guys know as much as I do.
5) new brain storming project based on J20. This started a couple years ago apparently, just before J20 was finalized. This is your if money is no object kind of wishlist project. Think it is brainstorming for 6 gen.
Most of the info I got is based on conversations I have with my uncle, but its almost a guessing game with him sometimes and a lot of read between the lines. Almost what he doesn't say vs what is said.
Like I heard him say "people" are happy with J20 and want to build on it with 2 projects.
Now you guys know as much as I do.
