I don't like it. The threads are extremely long and contain outdated information.

If you don't like then you don't have to click on them. There are other people out there who find the threads useful.

I'd say these threads play a major role for newbies as mentioned. In any case, one avoids locked threads as a newbie (right?). I think its a great idea and hope the mods don' change this practice.

Big shoes to fill anyway. We've pretty much "lost" two super moderators. I'm sure siegecrossbow is up to it though!
