New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

It’s the best ever achieved by a Chinese car. And this is one that will be mass produced. But the bigger deal is the fastest speed.
Did they avoid another "Purple Card" fiasco?

If anyone wasn't aware of the above, Xiaomi fans pointed out that the first U9 track time was not overseen by the Nurburging officials which usually present the officially recorded track records on a red placard. BYD did their own testing and made up their own placard in purple.

Another thing: EREV sales are barely increasing either. They were 5% in Aug 2025 compared to 4.9% trailing 12 months. This strongly suggests that any residual range anxiety is melting away among China's EV buyers.
From what I've read, range anxiety is not always the primary driver of Hybrid/EREV sales in China, rather it is access to charging in non T1/2 cities. However, increased charging speeds, better management of charging points (pre-booking times, apps, etc.) are probably making a big difference.

This was probably not shared before. Zeekr licensed design in Arizona. Google and Magna look after the entire line. Zeekr gives the design.
I believe the plant is/was mostly reassembling cars to install the autonomous hardware. The Zeekr RT/Mix would probably be delivered in knockdown type kits rather than licensed production. There's no supply chain in the US for it.

To ensure the quality of after-sales service overseas, China will require export licenses for the makers of battery electric cars starting January 1, 2026. The EV makers that will be permitted to export must be strong enough to provide reasonably good after-sales service on the foreign markets they sell.

Chinese battery makers will mass-produce sodium ion batteries before their South Korean counterparts can do the same thing to LPF batteries.
