Some of Germany's legacy automakers didn't do well in China recently.

BYD's 14 millionth NEV, which rolled off the production line in Brazil, was sold to Lula.

Geely consistently outsells Tesla now, while Changan and SAIC-GM-Wuling did well in September.
Surprised Tesla is still doing so well, despite having very few new models, as mich of their models were launched years ago, with only minor changes so far. I would have thought chery, leapmotor, will be outselling them by now.
Its also a surprised Xiaomi is still only at 10th position . Seems their production capacity is what still limits them since demand far outstrips their supply by a margin. Its still an impressive results for them though, since they have only 2 models compared to other chinese EV brands with lots of different models/brands and they are just 2 years old(sometimes its easy to forget they started selling EV only 2 years ago, which is crazy). Xiaomi seems more similar to Tesla's in this regard.

Canada should just compromise by dropping the tariffs on Chinese EVs but make them ineligible for the iZev rebate (assuming they ever bring it back). They can make up any excuse they want like Chinese EVs are already subsidized by the Chinese government.

I also found this funny from that article:

"Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has said he opposes lifting the tariffs on Chinese EVs, though he’s called on the Liberals to do more to support farmers and get China to drop its levies on canola."

Thanks Pierre, very helpful. So you want to keep the tariffs on Chinese EVs but still want them to drop their tariffs on Canadian canola. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO GET THEM TO DO THAT? This is why you're so useless you lost your own riding in the last election (which, for anyone who doesn't know Canadian politics, is extremely humiliating and ought to be cause for someone to be fired from his party leadership position).

Dude, do you really think he believes what he says? lol he’s just doing what all politicians do when they are in opposition. i.e oppose anything the party or leader in power does or wants to do. That’s what opposition parties do in most countries on earth, even though deep down they might believe the opposite is right and they will do exactly what they oppose once they come to power themselves. lol
It happens quite often, that’s one of the shortfalls of democracy (though there are also advantages ). Every system has its advantages and disadvantages.

By the way, the name should be Justin, whose dad is Pierre. Justin is not even in power in Canada now.

Gotion is building a 2 GWh solid-state battery factory. 2 GWh battery is enough to power 20,000-40,000 EVs depending on battery size.

Chinese brands increased market share while German and Japanese brands lost market share in September.
Retail sales of Chinese-branded vehicles climbed 13 percent to 1.5 million last month, accounting for 67 percent of the total. German and Japanese brands lost market share, sinking to 14.3 percent and 11.6 percent from 16.6 percent and 12.7 percent, respectively, while US brands saw a marginal increase to 5.8 percent from 5.7 percent.
