Myanmar/Burma civil conflict

I have a feeling this is the Chinese counter move for the removal of Aung San Suu Kyi, who, if we remember, was implementing pro-China policies before being couped.

The Myanmese military junta is being reminded of their foolishness.
Looks like too it's been planned long before but they again choose the timing (Hamas-Israel conflict) to implement it.

I cant see it as anything specific against the military government. Aung San worked with China, the current government worked with China and if there is a next one it would also have to be non-hostile to China. Its unlikely Israel had anything to do with this because MNDAA has been skirmishing in Kokang since February.

The collapse of the Myanmar central government is not in China's interests.

China is not interested in seeing Myanmar collapse but perhaps a couple of ports will be good. The Pakistan port is still a bit too far. The Myanmar delta is five times the size of Pearl delta.

The Burmese military junta have just enough military clot to hold the everything together in a semblance of a nation without more unrest. Beijing is perhaps making the junta considering switching 'cooperation' from US to China at a time when the US feels she needs to sort out the Middle East. To do this they will need to show that they can influence things on the ground in Myanmar.

If the Myanmar government plays it well and be cooperative they will actually gain much from this.

Xi is talking with the US. I think they might trade more Chinese influence in Myanmar with promise of no military unrest in East Asia in the short term perhaps?

Nah, I doubt this whole thing was planned from China, MNDAA prepared for this counter offensive every year. Rumors suggest that China only gave blessings to this operation after the Oct 20th incidence where the Ming family of Kokang basically executed Chinese cops and refused to hand back fraudsters and Ming family.

it's really ?
Allegedly, not confirmed but it may have been likely.

Ming Xuechang was the owner of Crouching Tiger Villa, a telecom scam compound in Kokang, where workers including Chinese nationals were gunned down by guards while trying to flee on Oct. 20. According to some estimates, more than 60 Chinese nationals were killed or wounded in the massacre. Some of these Chinese nationals may have been undercover police but it was never confirmed.

Ming Xuechang has since killed himself after this incident after he was put in custody by Myanmar Police forces.

To quote Vesemir from the Witcher 3:

- Never pounce on an advantage as soon as it appears. Wait till it stands to have maximum effect.

There is no way this is just about telecom scams. That is just a nice PR excuse for both China and the MNDAA. There is no doubt that China is giving the Myanmese Junta some "color see see".

You're right that it's not just about telecom scams. It's about the kidnapping and enslavement of tens of thousands of Chinese citizens, 70+ of whom were just murdered in a single incident on 10/20.

It just happens that most of these enslaved Chinese citizens (including all of those murdered on 10/20) are being forced to perform telecom scams, but many of the enslaved women are being forced to work in brothels and some of the enslaved men are forced to work in mines. Slaves that fail to make enough money are tortured, and according to many reports, may even end up with their organs harvested.
