MRVd ASBM with EMP warheads.

I mean a MRVd ASBM with multiple warheads. One EMP and 9 Cluster bomb warheads(hundred of bomblets /w tungsten darts) to maximize the spread of areas , that explode in midair, even with CEP of 100m can do severe damage to electronics.

By the way, I have yet to see a report by US shooting down a missile at terminal phase , reaching at Mach 10 speed. All the interceptions by SM2-3 so far were mid phase interception of non-manuverable missile.

yeah that's what i have been thinking as well. the missile doesnt really have to directly hit the target. all you have to do is to determine the velocity of the target and fire off a couple of missiles with EMP warheads in the possible directions it is heading. it would then be much easier to take the target out with torpedoes or SU-30mk2

the main argument by people who's supporting the USN is that ballast missile's CEP of 10m, 100m and so on, well EMP bomb explode at mid air vincinity should take care of CEP issue.
A group of EMP and cluster bomb warheads exploding mid air should cover few hundred meters CEP.

ANd if it's MRvd at terminal speed mach 10, forget it, doesn't matter if they are next generation og SM-5 or SM-6 fat chance of shooting it down.

The best chance of SM-3 shooting the missile down is at midphase. well if ASBM become manuverable at that stage.. then it would become very interesting.

You guys do realize that pretty much all military electronics are hardened against EMP attack with Faraday cages and other technology right? We've known about EMP since the late 1940s, it's an intrinsic part of the nuclear battlefield, so the US and the USSR both put a lot of resources into making sure that their systems worked in an EMP-saturated environment.

That's a US Navy ship moored next to a massive non-nuclear EMP generator for testing purposes.

that's not much of a problem, its like saying since there are all these modern air defence systems, should we stop making fighter jets? even China has EMP resistant gears
i am not actually concerned as much about disabling the electronics on the ship (though it would be nice) as disabling the electronics on the fighters and helicopters. hopefully it'd create an opening for the subarmines and airforce to get close enough.

Why not thousands of small tungsten darts in the warheads? A few hundred fist sized holes on the flight deck and planes parked on it can't be good for carrier operations.

speaking of emp bomb, Us intelligent monitoring the iranian ballistic missile test in the late 90's discover the iranian may possess the technology to built EMP warhead for there ballistic missile.

what would be the blast radius be though? its gotta be significantly larger than the CEP.

how to change the title of the thread?

instead of EMP,

I like to change to Cluster bomb and EMP. can the mods change that?

One EMP and 9 Cluster bomb warheads(hundred of bomblets /w tungsten darts) to maximize the spread of areas ,
